Rooted Here, Reaching There: A year of Building, Launching and Operating the Nation’s First Satellites

2024 has been an extraordinary year for Inovor, with achieving milestones with our unique satellite missions. From pioneering innovations to expanding our horizons, this year has solidified our position as trailblazers. As we embrace the promise of 2025, we are excited to reflect on the remarkable journey so far and share with you a glimpse of the thrilling ventures that awaits us in the coming year.

Our 2024, a vision towards Innovation & Impact

As we celebrate the first-year anniversary of our first satellite, the SpIRIT mission, it is time to applaud a groundbreaking achievement – 12 months of flawless performance with an impressive availability of over 99.999%. A Fantastic milestone for everyone involved, proving the robustness and success of this innovative technology. With the successful demonstration of the Neumann Drive® aboard SpIRIT, We and Neumann Space are partnering to integrate the Neuman Drive, an advanced electric propulsion system, into Inovor’s satellite platforms. This partnership paves the way for even greater mission versatility and performance for our customers.

In the middle of this year we launched our second satellite. The very First State- owned satellite of Australia, Kanyini, is performing beyond industry expectations! Steady communications have been established from launch day with an impressive 100% availability. Keep an eye out as we are about to release the first pictures from Kanyini in the next few weeks!

We signed an MOU at the 17th Australian space forum with International SSA Service provider Leo Labs, committing to work together on initiatives with our Hyperion mission that promote a safe and sustainable space environment such as detecting, tracking, and analyzing satellites and debris, to prevent collisions and ensure safe operations across LEO, GEO, MEO and Cislunar orbits.

Inovor proudly completed the prestigious Lockhead Martin Mentor Protege Program, becoming the third Australian company to reach this milestone. This journey pushed us to innovate, adapt and believe in our potential. It is opening doors to global markets we once thought were out of reach. This milestone is a testament to the perseverance we have as a team and the Australia ingenuity, proving that even in challenging times, partnerships and determination can redefine success.

This year we were also awarded a $2million grant from South Australia’s economic recovery fund. Significantly, this grant will leverage our close partnership with Japanese prime IHI Corporation, fueling satellite maritime safety and security through advanced space tech solutions. Yoshifumi Asakura, General Manager of space Systems Business Development Office of IHI Corporation, commented on our partnership, stating: “Working with Inovor technologies represents an important international collaboration opportunity for the IHI Corporation. This partnership allows us to combine our expertise and resources to drive innovation and create advanced space solutions. We look forward to a successful collaboration that will significantly contribute to the global space and Defence Industry.”

Inovor was also among the winners for the AUKUS Electronic Warfare Innovation Challenge – The trilateral-developed challenge asked companies to leverage the electromagnetic spectrum to improve Defence targeting across six stages of the targeting cycle; finding, fixing, tracking, targeting, engaging and assessing.

For future missions –We have signed an MOU with the iLaunch Trailblazer to make SATCOMM more resilient. Inovor and The Australian National University (ANU) are co-developing a new software-defined radio (SDR) solution that is set to be onboard all of our locally manufactured satellites. In 2025 another new and exciting Earth Observation mission is to be announced with brilliant industry and academic partners!

As we move into next year, our newly completed clean room and manufacturing facility is set to significantly boost our satellite manufacturing capacity. We are positioned to accelerate our production to deliver on new opportunities.

At the start of 2025, we will have Buccaneer ready to Go! Mark your Calendars – in March, Buccaneer, will be launched on transporter 13. With our third satellite set to launch in just a few months— we are embarking on yet another exciting milestone in our ongoing journey to build Australia’s space flight heritage.

Looking beyond our earth, The ELO₂ Consortium—co-led by EPE Oceania and Lunar Outpost Oceania—has just been selected by the Australian Space Agency to build Australia’s first lunar rover. Inovor is a proud partner that built the prototype of the electrical power system for the “Roo-ver”. Together, we are bringing Australian ingenuity to the Moon and beyond! Stay tuned in the coming year as we put Australian flag on the moon.
