Inovor Technologies is delighted to join The Andy Thomas Space Foundation as an inaugural Corporate Sponsor, supporting the newly launched organisation to help Australian talent to reach for the stars.

The Foundation is named in honour of Australia’s first member of NASA’s elite astronaut corps, Andy Thomas AO, who flew four missions across 12 years and spent a total of six months in space, including time onboard both the Mir and International space stations.

Mr Thomas retired in 2014 having spent a remarkable 22 years at NASA.

The Andy Thomas Space Foundation aims to ‘inspire the next generation of space leaders’ by advancing space education and access to educational opportunities; raising awareness of the links between space science, technologies and our everyday lives; and by contributing to the space community through events and education initiatives.

Inovor Technologies CEO and founder Dr Matthew Tetlow said: “There are strong parallels between Inovor Technologies and The Andy Thomas Space Foundation – it was an easy decision to throw our support behind it and its admirable goals.

“Inovor Technologies, like Andy, was born in Adelaide. We also work closely with universities, including the University of Adelaide where Andy studied mechanical engineering.

“Our three interns are current students at The University of Adelaide.

“Andy got to fly to space; most of us at Inovor Technologies will have to live that experience vicariously through our satellites.

“Most importantly, both the Andy Thomas Foundation and Inovor Technologies are absolutely committed to nurturing up-and-coming space industry talent in Australia.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in the launch of The Andy Thomas Space Foundation.”

Foundation Chair Michael Davis AO said: “I’ve followed Dr Matt Tetlow’s career since he was a student at the International Space University in 2004 and it’s wonderful to have one of Australia’s most exciting new space companies on board as a key Foundation supporter.”

Foundation CEO Nicola Sasanelli AM added that was looking forward to working with Inovor Technologies to plan initiatives that will inspire young students to learn more about space and career opportunities in Australia.
